Lectures

Academic drawing courses – lectures for those who want to learn and improve the craft of drawing. It is divided into 6 levels. Levels 1 to 3 cover the basics of drawing, while levels 4 to 6 focus on more advanced drawing techniques – the human figure. There are also drawing courses especially for kids (see below).

Level 1 – Foundation

The foundation of all drawing and painting is the sketch. This is the focus of this course: loose lines and shapes, proportions, light and shadow.

We start with an overview of drawing materials, focus on our own position and posture of body and tools in relation to the drawing surface and finally try out possible observation techniques. These help us to perceive the essence of objects, which enables us to reduce the complex to its basic forms.

Drawing material is included. You are welcome to bring your own material.
No prior skills are required – any level is welcome.

1 Course: € 66 pp
3 Courses: € 180 pp

Level 2 – Perspective

Perspective is the creation of an illusion of depth and space. In this course we explore different types of perspective, its history and how it helps us to represent three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional medium.

The focus will be on parallel and central perspective, various viewpoints and depth techniques. Basic construction techniques provide the framework for drawing things, people, animals – any drawing motif – correctly in depth and space. This theory is extended through practical exercises.

Drawing material is included. You are welcome to bring your own material.
No prior skills are required – any level is welcome.

Plants are perfect for studying organic forms, negative space and spatial relationships.

This course is dedicated to the close observation and capture of natural forms, the perception of overlapping elements, depth and shortening. The motifs promote fluid, dynamic and natural drawing. As the final unit in the basic course series, it combines what has been learned in Levels 1 and 2 and puts it into practice.

Drawing material is included. You are welcome to bring your own material.
No prior skills are required – any level is welcome.

A solid understanding of human anatomy is fundamental to advanced drawing. In this course, we examine the human body, skeletal structure, and musculature, analyzing how they define movement and form.

We break down the body's complexity into simple shapes and learn how bones and muscles influence posture and proportions. This session provides the essential knowledge needed for life drawing, helping us develop precision and confidence.

Drawing material is included. You are welcome to bring your own material.

Level 6 – Human Study

Bringing together all previously learned skills – line work, depth, observation techniques, anatomy, and portraiture – this session focuses on drawing the human figure from a live model.

Life drawing requires a trained eye for proportion, movement, and structure, refining our ability to capture the human body naturally. Through a combination of quick gesture sketches and longer, detailed studies, we enhance our ability to depict the human form with confidence.
